Udzungwa Mountains National Park
The Udzungwa Mountains are part of the Eastern
Arc Range which stretches from Kenya to southern
Tanzania. Covered by patches of dense tropical forests,
they provide a haven for many unique plant, mammal,
bird, amphibian, reptile and insect species. Some
of which are found nowhere else except within Udzungwa
National Park. The recently discovered Sanje Mangabey
and the Iringa Red colobus are actually found nowhere
else in the world!
The Park covers an area of 1,990 square kilometres,
with mountains rising from 250m above sea level
to Mr Luhomero, standing 2,576 m tall. It is located
75 klms from Mikumi National park, just over an
hour’s comfortable drive. Udzungwa can be
visited as a day trip from Mikumi on any relevent
